Can't I just file it free on the official government site? ⌄
Yes, government sites are free. The ¥980 covers us filing on your behalf in Japanese, confirming submission and following up on issues. If you're comfortable with English/local-language forms, doing it yourself is perfectly fine.
Is an arrival card the same as an eVisa? ⌄
No. eVisas are entry approvals with vetting and possible rejection. Arrival cards are just pre-arrival info forms — no government review, near-zero rejection risk.

Can it be rejected? ⌄
